Indonesia DJID - Type Approval: Overview

The Directorate General of Digital Infrastructure (DJID) — formerly known as SDPPI (Direktorat Jenderal Sumber Daya dan Perangkat Pos dan Informatika) — issues the mandatory Type Approval Certificate required for all radio frequency (RF) devices entering Indonesia. This certification is commonly referred to as Indonesia DJID Type Approval (previously known as SDPPI Type Approval).

DJID is also responsible for implementing regulations and requirements related to Indonesia’s radio frequency spectrum and telecommunications networks. All radio frequency transmitter and receiver products that utilize the radio spectrum or connect to a public telecommunications network are subject to mandatory DJID Type Approval prior to importation, distribution, or sale in Indonesia.

To obtain DJID Type Approval, a local representative holding a valid Business Registration Number (NIB) must submit the application through DJID’s official online system. The local representative is responsible for regulatory compliance and certificate maintenance. Equipment labeling is mandatory. There are 2 samples required for in-country testing. The DJID Type Approval Certificate is valid for three (3) years.

There are two certification routes available under the current Indonesian regulatory framework:

1. Paperwork Route
Under this route, test reports issued by Indonesian-accredited MRA (Mutual Recognition Arrangement) laboratories are accepted. Local testing in Indonesia is not required for RF and safety/EMC parameters if compliant reports from recognized MRA labs are provided. However, overseas SAR reports are not accepted.

2. Local Testing Route
Under this route, all required tests must be conducted in Indonesian local laboratories accredited and recognized by DJID.

Regardless of the chosen route, if the device requires SAR (Specific Absorption Rate) testing, the SAR test must be conducted locally in Indonesia.

5. Coordination of local laboratory testing in Indonesia where required, including mandatory local SAR testing when applicable.

6. End-to-end project management covering application submission, authority follow-ups, certification issuance, and guidance on DJID labeling requirements (Certificate Number, PLG ID, QR Code, and warning statement).

7. Assistance with certificate renewals, product modifications, variant additions, regulatory updates, and ongoing compliance support throughout the three-year certificate validity period.
