Changes to Nepal/NTA Type Approval Process - Mobile Device Management System (MDMS)
Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) has made registration of IMEI number to Mobile Device Management System (MDMS) mandatory.
Nepal Telecommunication Authority (NTA) administers the Nepal - NTA Type Approval Process which is a mandatory requirement for Radio and Telecommunication Equipment prior to their import to Nepal (with exemptions as mentioned on this page below)
NTA Type Approval consists of two phases:
1- Provisional NTA Type Approval - Valid for 6 months
2- Periodic Permanent NTA Type Approval - Valid for 5 Years
It is to be noted that NTA facilitates the Periodic permanent NTA Type Approval requests only if the approved devices are actually imported and sold during the six month provisional approval phase.

All Radio Telecommunication devices with operating distance less than 15 meters are exempt from Nepal NTA Type Approval
Below Technologies are not allowed in Nepal, however Letters of Exemptions can be issued by NTA if devices based on these technologies/frequencies operate within 15 meters distance
