The Telecommunications, Radiocommunications and Broadcasting Regulator (TRBR) is the official authority responsible for regulating telecommunications equipment and radio frequency (RF) devices in the Republic of Vanuatu. It ensures that all Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and Radiocommunications and Telecommunications Terminal Equipment (RTTE) comply with national and international technical standards.

All RF devices are mandated to obtain TRBR type approval before placing their product in the market. Vanuatu utilizes a recognition-based certification system. Unlike many other jurisdictions, TRBR primarily relies on international test reports (such as CE from the EU or FCC from the USA) to verify compliance. The certification by TRBR generally does not require any local representative or local testing if valid international reports are provided. Once issued, the certificate has lifetime validity, provided no technical modifications are made to the device. The overall process typically takes around 2 - 4 weeks, but usually we are able to obtain the type approval certificates much sooner.
