Products using radio frequency spectrum or connecting to public telecom networks must comply with the Radio Equipment Directive and obtain local type approval from the ANFR office in French Polynesia before they can be imported and placed on the market.

A valid CE certification is required. The Declaration of Conformity (DoC) must be properly signed and supported by relevant test reports demonstrating compliance with applicable harmonized standards, including radio spectrum requirements. Physical sample submission is not required. The CE marking must be visibly affixed to the product in accordance with European labeling requirements.

A local representative is not strictly mandatory; however, the approval must be validated by the local ANFR office in French Polynesia. The certificate may be issued either under the manufacturer’s name or the local company’s name, provided that a valid Power of Attorney is submitted when applicable. The typical processing time is 4 to 6 weeks depending on the completeness of documentation and review workload. Once issued, the authorization has no defined validity limit.
