Turkiye regulates telecommunications and radio equipment under the Radio Equipment Regulation (2014/53/EU), which is aligned with the European Union’s Radio Equipment Directive (RED). As a result, products that comply with EU standards and bear the CE marking can generally be placed on the Turkish market without undergoing a separate national type approval procedure.

The national regulatory authority responsible for electronic communications and telecommunications equipment in Turkiye is the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK – Bilgi Teknolojileri ve İletişim Kurumu). BTK oversees spectrum management and conducts market surveillance to ensure that radio equipment placed on the Turkish market complies with applicable legislation and does not cause harmful interference.

Since the adoption of the RED-based regulation in November 2020, the traditional type approval process administered by the national regulator has been discontinued. Manufacturers are no longer required to submit products for prior approval before market entry, provided the device fully complies with the relevant EU directives and Turkish regulatory requirements.

Products meeting the relevant EU Directives and carrying the CE marking can be legally marketed in Turkiye , provided the required technical documentation and product information (including user manuals) are available in Turkish where applicable.
