Indonesia Allows Domestic and MRA-Based Foreign Labs to Issue Test Reports for 6 GHz RLAN Devices
The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs of Indonesia (Kominfo)Â issued a regulatory update regarding testing requirements for Radio Local Area Network (RLAN) devices operating in the 6 GHz band.
According to an official communication dated 13 January 2026, the Ministry announced that starting 15 January 2026, test reports for 6 GHz RLAN equipment may be issued by a wider range of recognized laboratories.
The update follows the Ministerial Decree No. 12 of 2025, which establishes the regulatory framework for the use of radio frequency spectrum under class licensing and the technical standards for telecommunications equipment operating in Radio Local Area Networks (RLAN).
Under the new provision, test reports for RLAN devices operating within the 5925–6425 MHz frequency band can be issued by:
Domestic telecommunications testing laboratories in Indonesia, or
Foreign laboratories located in countries that have a Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) with Indonesia, provided that the laboratories are authorized for RLAN testing within the relevant frequency scope.
The policy change follows an evaluation of RLAN 6 GHz device test reports conducted during 2025, and marks the end of a temporary provision previously included in the ministerial decree.
Indonesia now allows both domestic and qualified international MRA laboratories to issue test reports for 6 GHz RLAN/Wi-Fi 6E devices. This update streamlines type approval while ensuring compliance with regulations for the 5925–6425 MHz band and clarifies accepted testing sources for market entry. For expert insights, feel free to contact us on info@nanotechsol.com.
