Indonesia Opens Public Consultation on Updated LMR Standards
Indonesia’s Ministry of Communication has opened a public consultation on a draft decree updating technical standards for Land Mobile Radio (LMR) devices. This proposal replaces outdated regulations from 1996–2009, modernizing compliance requirements and aligning them with CISPR, ETSI, and IEC standards.
Key Regulatory Highlights
Device Categories Covered:
Conventional LMR
Trunking LMR
Private Mobile Radio (PMR)
Scope of Equipment:Â Applies to all LMR device types: handheld, mobile, base/repeater, and modems.
Updated Frequency Range: Devices will be limited to the 300–470 MHz band. Equipment operating between 450–512 MHz will no longer be permitted.
📊 Simplified Testing Aligned with Global Standards:
Testing is now limited to essential parameters needed to prevent harmful interference, including:
Operating frequency
Channel spacing
Conducted output power
Spurious emissions
Frequency accuracy/stability
Tests for temperature, impedance, and modulation are no longer required. All testing must follow internationally recognized standards.
EMC & Safety Compliance: Devices must comply with CISPR 32, ETSI EN 301 489, IEC 60950‑1, and IEC 62368‑1 for electromagnetic compatibility and safety.
Stakeholders can submit feedback until August 3, 2025, via the official Postel website. Need more details on Indonesia regulatory updates, feel free to contact us at info@nanotechsol.com
