CONATEL operates under the Framework Law of the Telecommunications Sector (Decree No. 185-95) and is the sole authority responsible for issuing type approval certificates, managing the national frequency spectrum, and setting technical standards for equipment placed on the Honduran market.

Getting equipment registered with CONATEL is less complex than it might seem. CONATEL Resolution No. 253 allows manufacturers to rely on certifications they have already obtained internationally, whether that is FCC, EU RED, ANATEL, IFT, ISED, or CNC, as the foundation for their CONATEL submission. There is no need to send physical samples, engage a local representative, or go through any additional product labelling process. Certificates do not expire once issued, giving manufacturers long-term peace of mind for continued market access in Honduras.
