The Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) released the Draft IPv6 Migration Byelaw, 2082 (2025) on June 4, 2025, to support the country’s shift from IPv4 to IPv6, crucial for enabling 5G, IoT, and smart technologies. The byelaw mandates dual-stack deployment, transition plans, compliance with IETF standards, and strict security measures.
Following its initial announcement earlier in June, the Nepal Telecommunication Authority (NTA) has now issued a formal public consultation notice dated July 15, 2025. This notice invites written or electronic feedback on the Draft IPv6 Migration Byelaw, 2082 (2025) from a broad range of stakeholders, including Internet Service Providers (ISPs), Telecom operators, IT and cybersecurity professionals, Researchers, Government agencies and the general public.
The consultation process presents a valuable opportunity for stakeholders to contribute insights and recommendations that will help shape the final version of the byelaw. All feedback must be submitted within 15 days of the notice's publication, i.e., by July 30, 2025.
By actively engaging stakeholders in this process, the NTA aims to ensure that the final regulation is comprehensive, practical, and aligned with international best practices to support Nepal’s evolving digital landscape.
