The National Telecommunications Commission (CONATEL) is the regulatory authority responsible for telecommunications and radio equipment in Paraguay. Equipment that connects to a telecommunications network or uses radio frequencies is generally subject to CONATEL requirements before it can be placed on the market.

The approval process requires a local representative to handle the application in Paraguay. The manufacturer remains the certificate holder. Approval is issued for individual models, and family model applications are not allowed.

A product sample is not required for the approval process. Product labeling is required to demonstrate compliance with the applicable CONATEL requirements. Once issued, the approval is valid for 5 years, and the standard processing time is approximately 6–7 weeks, subject to the submission of complete documentation and fulfillment of regulatory requirements.

Equipment that does not connect to a telecommunications network is exempt from the type approval requirement.
