Qatar CRA Type Approval: Which Products Are Exempt?

Not every radio or telecom product in Qatar needs CRA Type Approval.

The Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) has listed some types of equipment that may be exempt from Type Approval based on how they work, where they are used, or their technical features.

1. Equipment That Only Receives Signals

Equipment that only receives radio signals may be exempt from CRA Type Approval.

These products do not send radio signals and are mainly designed to receive information.

2. Equipment Controlled by a Public Network

Some transmitter equipment that can only transmit under the control of a public network may be exempt.

Mobile phones are an example of this type of equipment.

3. Low-Power Wi-Fi and Bluetooth in Computers

Wi-Fi or Bluetooth equipment built into computers and laptops may be exempt when the output power is below 100 mW.
