Lebanon TRA - Type Approval: Overview
The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) is the official authority responsible for the type approval of wireless and terminal equipment in Lebanon. TRA oversees licensing activities, spectrum management, equipment compliance verification, and the monitoring of market competition across the telecommunications sector.
Previously, these responsibilities were handled by the Ministry of Telecommunications (MoT). However, as of January 2026, the responsibility for issuing type approval certificates has been transferred to the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), which now manages the approval process for telecommunications equipment entering the Lebanese market.
Any equipment that transmits radio signals or connects to the public telecommunications network must obtain mandatory type approval before it can be legally imported, marketed, or used in Lebanon.
Although the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) recognizes international standards and may accept existing FCC or CE test reports, this does not eliminate the requirement for local registration. Obtaining official TRA type approval is therefore a mandatory step for market entry in Lebanon.
The standard processing time for Lebanon TRA approval is up to 6 weeks. Our team ensures that all documentation meets the regulatory requirements and provides guidance throughout the approval process to facilitate a smooth certification procedure.
The TRA certificate can be issued under the manufacturer’s name. However, to import the equipment into Lebanon, the importing entity must hold a valid importing license and obtain the TRA type approval issued under their name before importation.
