UAE Launches Consultation on Private IMT Networks Framework
The UAE Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) has launched a public consultation on the proposed Private IMT Networks Enablement Framework (PRIMTE-UAE). TDRA is inviting feedback from government bodies, telecom operators, enterprises, and other stakeholders before finalizing the framework.
The proposed framework sets out the rules for deploying private 4G/5G (IMT) networks in the UAE. It is designed to support Industry 4.0 and digital transformation across sectors such as manufacturing, energy, logistics, transport, mining, ports, and smart infrastructure.
The draft allows private networks to be deployed either by licensed mobile operators or directly by enterprises with TDRA approval. It also proposes dedicated spectrum in the 3.8–4.2 GHz and 24.25–25.5 GHz bands, along with technical and authorization requirements for private network deployments.
TDRA will review all stakeholder comments before issuing the final framework. Feedback can be submitted until 31 July 2026.
