Thailand NBTC Opens Public Consultation on Draft Frequency Management Plan (2026–2028)
The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) has launched a public consultation on its draft Master Plan for Frequency Management (2026–2028), following approval in principle at its 11th/2026 meeting held in April , 2026.
The updated plan introduces a defined policy timeframe to align Thailand’s spectrum management with the upcoming World Radiocommunication Conference 2027 (WRC-27) and evolving international ITU regulations. It aims to modernize national spectrum policy in line with digital economy goals and current frequency usage trends.
The draft covers spectrum use across broadcasting, telecommunications, satellite, navigation, and scientific services, and emphasizes spectrum refarming, efficiency improvements, and 5G/IMT expansion, particularly in mid-band frequencies.
Key spectrum bands identified for future return or optimization include portions of the 824–839 / 869–884 MHz, 1428.5–1524 MHz, 1920–1980 / 2110–2170 MHz, and 2306–2408 MHz ranges, while higher-frequency bands are being prepared for emerging 5G and 6G applications.
A public consultation meeting will be held on June 5, 2026, in Bangkok, with feedback accepted until July 6, 2026 via online submission, email, registered mail, or in-person delivery to the NBTC Office.
The NBTC stated that stakeholder input will help refine Thailand’s spectrum roadmap for the 2026–2028 regulatory cycle. For end-to-end guidance on global Type Approval, RF compliance, and market access, contact: info@nanotechsol.com
