Starlink Launches High-Speed Satellite Internet Service in Bahrain Following TRA License Approval
Starlink, the satellite internet service developed by Elon Musk’s SpaceX, officially launched its high-speed internet services in Bahrain on May 16, 2025. This milestone follows the license granted by Bahrain’s Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) in April 2022, making Bahrain the first country in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) to authorize Starlink to operate within its borders.
Starlink utilizes a network of low Earth orbit satellites, enabling it to deliver fiber-grade, high-speed, low-latency internet connectivity to users worldwide, including residential, commercial, aviation, and maritime sectors. This technology is designed to serve both urban and remote areas, providing reliable internet where traditional infrastructure may be limited.
Philippe Marnik, TRA Bahrain’s General Director, praised the launch, highlighting Bahrain’s role as a communications hub with a competitive market. He said Starlink’s entry ensures that businesses and consumers gain access to cutting-edge connectivity that supports the country’s growth goals.
This development strengthens Bahrain’s ambition to remain a leader in telecommunications within the region and provides consumers with next-generation satellite internet services. To get more insights into Bahrain's TRA regulatory updates , contact us at info@nanotechsol.com
