South Korea: USB Type-C Compliance Requirements to Take Effect on 6 November 2026

South Korea’s National Radio Research Agency (RRA) has outlined conformity assessment requirements for USB Type-C receptacle connectors, scheduled to take effect on 6 November 2026.

The requirements cover 13 categories of wireless equipment supporting wired charging or wired charging and data transfer, including smartphones, tablets, laptops, headphones and digital cameras.

From the implementation date, new conformity assessment applications for covered products must meet the prescribed USB Type-C technical standard. Manufacturers must also provide the applicable declarations or supporting test documentation, depending on the assessment route.

Impact on Manufacturers: Companies exporting covered products to South Korea should review connector specifications and conformity assessment documentation ahead of implementation to help avoid certification delays.

Equipment assessed before the effective date is excluded from the new requirements, including subsequent modifications, according to RRA guidance.
