Singapore has put forward ISO/IEC 42119-8, a new international standard focused on testing methodologies for Generative AI systems, marking a first-of-its-kind framework for structured AI evaluation.

The proposal was discussed at the ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 42 plenary meeting in Singapore (20–24 April), bringing together global AI experts and national bodies.

Key focus areas include:

• Standardised benchmarking for Generative AI

• Red teaming and safety testing methods

• Improved reproducibility and reliability of AI test results
