Saudi Arabia USB Type-C Charging Requirements
Manufacturers placing consumer electronic devices on the Saudi market should note that mandatory USB Type-C charging requirements are now fully applicable under the SASO and CST regulatory framework.
The requirement was introduced through a phased implementation, initially covering smartphones, tablets, digital cameras, e-readers, portable gaming consoles, headphones, speakers, keyboards, computer mice, wireless routers, and portable navigation systems, before expanding to laptops and portable computers.
The initiative supports charging standardization, improved device interoperability, and the reduction of electronic waste, aligning Saudi Arabia with broader global harmonization efforts.
Covered products must comply with applicable SASO IEC 62680 standards and relevant Saudi conformity assessment requirements before being placed on the market.
