Saudi Arabia has launched its first Smart Wi-Fi 7 service at (King Abdullah Financial District) KAFD in Riyadh, in partnership with Huawei. This advanced network, powered by AI and data analytics, is part of the district's smart city transformation aligned with Vision 2030. The collaboration, formalized at LEAP 2025, also involves deploying 5G-Advanced, AI, IoT, and smart poles to drive innovation and economic growth, marking a significant step toward advanced digital infrastructure in Saudi Arabia.

Alignment with Vision 2030

The launch of WiFi-7 supports Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 by focusing on new technology, better infrastructure, and digital growth. The service supports the national strategy by creating a digitally empowered environment that supports high-growth industries, enhances the user experience, and fosters smart urban development.

The agreement between KAFD and Huawei includes initiatives to develop ICT talent through specialized training programs and internationally recognized Huawei certifications (HCNA, HCNP, HCIE). These certifications will enhance professionals' skills in networking and ICT.

A Digital Ecosystem for Business and Innovation

Ramez Al-Fayez, Chief Information Technology Officer at KAFD, highlighted the smart city market’s expected growth to $2.74 trillion by 2034. He noted Riyadh's strong performance in the IMD Smart Cities Index, ranking 25th globally.

As proof of its leadership in digital infrastructure, KAFD recently became the first neighborhood in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) to receive WiredScore’s Global Smart Neighborhood Certification. This recognition underscores its world-class connectivity, sustainability efforts, and integrated live-work-play environment.
