Portugal's telecommunications regulator, ANACOM, has launched a public consultation on a draft decision to renew mobile spectrum rights used for terrestrial electronic communications services. The proposal covers key spectrum bands that support mobile and 5G networks and is intended to provide long-term regulatory certainty while encouraging continued investment and efficient spectrum use.

Under the draft, spectrum rights in the 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2100 MHz, and 2600 MHz bands would be renewed for varying terms. The consultation is open until 27 August 2026, after which ANACOM will consider stakeholder feedback before issuing a final decision.
