The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has notified the Telecommunication Equipment Standards Regulations, 2024 through S.R.O. 1110(I)/2026, establishing standards and testing requirements for different classes of telecommunications equipment.

The Regulations require telecommunications equipment, whether locally manufactured, imported, or deployed across networks, to comply with prescribed technical standards, including Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), Radio Frequency (RF), Health and Safety, and other applicable specifications.

A Certificate of Compliance (CoC) from PTA is mandatory before equipment can be imported, deployed, or put into operational use.

The Regulations apply to telecommunications equipment manufacturers, importers, and PTA licensees.

According to PTA, the framework is intended to promote global compatibility, interoperability, higher service standards, local manufacturing, and national economic growth.

The Regulations follow extensive consultations with manufacturers, importers, licensees, vendors, and other representatives of the telecommunications industry.
