Oman has completed the nationwide shutdown of its 3G networks, reallocating spectrum to expand 4G, 5G, and IoT services. The phased process, which began in mid-2024, involved decommissioning over 5,600 stations across all governorates.

The upgrade has delivered 99% 4G coverage, 90% 5G coverage, and annual energy savings of more than two million kilowatt-hours. Oman is among the first countries to fully retire 3G and transition to advanced mobile technologies.
