Mauritius ICTA Announces 3G Network Shutdown by End of 2028
The Information and Communication Technologies Authority (ICTA) of Mauritius has announced that mobile network operators will phase out 3G mobile services by the end of 2028. This transition supports the nationwide expansion of 4G and 5G networks, which offer faster speeds, improved reliability, and improved service quality
Devices that rely solely on 3G technology including some older phones, trackers, and machine-to-machine equipment may stop functioning once 3G networks are decommissioned. Consumers and businesses are encouraged to upgrade to 4G or 5G-compatible devices to ensure continued connectivity.
ICTA also plans to discontinue the importation and use of 3G-only devices and will work with mobile operators to inform users about the transition. For expert support and guidance: info@nanotechsol.com
