Malaysia has developed a draft Technical Code on Internet of Things (IoT) – Safety, Security and Privacy Management through the Malaysian Technical Standards Forum Bhd (MTSFB).

The proposed framework focuses on strengthening IoT cybersecurity, privacy and safety throughout the device lifecycle. It covers areas such as device security, authentication, secure updates, risk assessment, supply-chain security and compliance.

The framework is intended to provide a broader approach to IoT regulatory and cybersecurity compliance and is relevant to IoT device manufacturers, service providers and system integrators in Malaysia.

For manufacturers, the proposed framework highlights the growing importance of cybersecurity and privacy requirements when developing and deploying IoT products in Malaysia.
