Laos Implements New Type Approval Validity and Labeling Rules
Starting August 4, 2023, the validity of Type Approval Certificates and Acknowledgement Letters for Declarations of Conformity (DoC) in Laos has been officially reduced to one year. Previously, these documents were valid for three years. This change is intended to ensure closer monitoring and compliance with technical standards.
Key points from the regulation:
One-Year Validity: Certificates and acknowledgment letters issued after August 4, 2023, will now expire after one year. However, documents issued before this date will retain their original three-year validity.
Simplified Labeling Requirements: Certain Short-Range Devices (SRDs) no longer require mandatory labeling. Exceptions to this rule are outlined in Article 10 of the applicable regulations, which specifies which devices must still display compliance marks.
The updated rules emphasize the importance of adhering to technical standards, including those related to safety, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), and the National Radio Frequency Plan. Operators must ensure all devices imported, used, or sold in Laos comply with these standards.
