Kenya Reinforces Mobile Device Standards for 2026

The Communications Authority of Kenya has issued a public notice on the enforcement of Mobile Device Standards for 2026, aimed at improving device safety, network performance, and user experience.

All mobile devices must comply with the Technical Specifications for Mobile Cellular Devices (2025), which remain the latest regulatory framework in Kenya. These specifications ensure devices meet safety, radiation, EMC, network compatibility, and environmental requirements.

The standards apply to smartphones, feature phones, and tablets, all of which must be compliant before being marketed or used in the country.

The framework also covers key technical areas such as battery performance, safety, EMC, radiated power, and frequency usage, with a minimum requirement of 8 hours talk time. Compliance is mandatory, and non-compliant devices may face market entry restrictions, customs delays, or regulatory penalties.

Stakeholders are advised to ensure full compliance to maintain uninterrupted access to the Kenyan market. For expert insights, feel free to contact info@nanotechsol.com.
