Kenya’s Communications Authority (CA) has proposed new Technical Specifications for Network Equipment, 2026, covering equipment intended for connection to public telecommunications networks.

The proposed specification, CA.TS.520:2026, Version 1.0, covers equipment such as routers, switches, firewalls, gateways and servers. It includes requirements related to IPv6, network security, EMC, interoperability, QoS and environmental compliance.

The proposal is intended to provide clearer technical requirements for network equipment used in Kenya.

The effective date is currently listed as TBD, so manufacturers and importers should monitor further updates from the CA regarding implementation and compliance timelines.
