Kenya Advances Draft Type Approval Regulations

Kenya’s Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy, in consultation with the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA), is moving to the stakeholder validation phase for the revised Kenya Information and Communication Regulations, 2026.

The validation exercise covers 15 draft regulations and will take place from 15–17 September 2026.

For telecom and ICT equipment manufacturers, a key development is the proposed Type Approval of Electronic Communications Equipment Regulations, 2026, scheduled for discussion on 15 September 2026, from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon.

The wider regulatory package also covers spectrum, licensing, numbering, interconnection, infrastructure sharing, broadcasting, and compliance.

The regulations remain in draft form and are not yet effective. The validation follows earlier stakeholder consultations and consideration of public submissions.

Status: Stakeholder validation – 15 September 2026
