IMDA Issues Draft eUICC SMT Specification for Consumer Devices

The Info-communications Media Development Authority (IMDA) has released a draft specification for eUICC Subscription Management Technology (SMT) in consumer devices, aligned with GSMA Remote SIM Provisioning standards.

The framework enables users to download and manage mobile profiles via Local Profile Assistant (LPA), supporting smartphones, tablets, and wearables, including companion device setups.

Key requirements include:

  • PTCRB/GCF certification for devices

  • Compliance with GSMA RSP standards and IMDA technical specs

  • Mandatory security, functional testing, and production accreditation for eUICCs

The draft also mandates no SIM lock, ensuring users can freely switch and download operator profiles.

Developed with industry input via TSAC, the specification strengthens Singapore’s push toward flexible and secure eSIM adoption. For expert support, contact us at info@nanotechsol.com
