Eswatini Updates Fixed Services Band Plan for 2026

The communications regulator in Eswatini has released General Notice No. 3/2026, introducing an updated Fixed Terrestrial Services Band Plan to enhance spectrum efficiency and support national connectivity.

The revised framework aligns with international standards, incorporating outcomes from the World Radiocommunication Conference 2019 and World Radiocommunication Conference 2023, and reflects ITU-R recommendations and regional SADC harmonization efforts. A key update includes the removal of the 10.5 GHz band due to evolving global spectrum decisions.

The plan covers a wide range of frequency bands from 1.4 GHz to 94 GHz, providing detailed channeling arrangements, including bandwidths, duplex spacing, and channel structures for fixed services such as backhaul and high-capacity data transmission.

Key highlights include:

  • Structured channeling across major bands (2 GHz, 4 GHz, 7 GHz, 11–18 GHz, and beyond)

  • Support for both medium and high-capacity fixed wireless links

  • 5 GHz band reserved for government use

  • Adoption of a technology-neutral approach

  • Implementation of per-link spectrum assignment

The updated band plan strengthens Eswatini’s spectrum framework, enabling efficient deployment of fixed wireless infrastructure and supporting future network expansion. For more such information, feel free to contact us at info@nanotechsol.com
