Egypt’s NTRA, in cooperation with Telecom Egypt and Huawei, has successfully conducted Africa’s first trial of mobile services using the Upper 6 GHz (U6GHz) band.

• First mobile base station operating on U6GHz

• Data speeds of approximately 1.7 Gbps per user

• Demonstrates potential for higher network capacity and service quality

• U6GHz is included in Egypt’s planned 2030–2035 national spectrum plan

The band could support future high-capacity applications including AI, IoT, AR/VR and cloud computing.
