Cambodia TRC Tightens Controls on Counterfeit and Second-Hand Telecom Equipment
Cambodia’s Telecommunication Regulator (TRC) has issued an announcement addressing the import, supply and distribution of counterfeit and/or second-hand telecommunications equipment from abroad.
TRC requires affected businesses to comply with applicable Qualified Agent (QA), Type Approval (TA) and Import Permit (IP) requirements. Businesses covered by the announcement are given 60 days to apply for a QA Certificate and are instructed to deal only in brand-new telecommunications equipment of clear and lawful origin with the required TRC Type Approval.
TRC stated that continued non-compliance may lead to measures including confiscation, fines and closure of advertising websites, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
