Bahrain TRA Opens Consultation on Satellite D2D Services

The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) of Bahrain has launched a consultation on plans to authorize Satellite Direct-to-Device (D2D) connectivity. The proposal aims to extend mobile coverage by allowing standard phones to link directly with satellites where terrestrial networks are unavailable.

Under the draft framework, licensed mobile operators may collaborate with international satellite providers to offer emergency messaging and basic data services, with voice capabilities expected later.

TRA is seeking comments from stakeholders and the public until 8 November 2025. For more details on Bahrain TRA  regulatory updates, feel free to contact us at info@nanotechsol.com.
