The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has launched a public consultation on its proposal to remake the Radiocommunications (Aircraft and Aeronautical Mobile Stations) Class Licence 2016, which is scheduled to sunset on 1 October 2026.

According to ACMA, the current licence continues to operate effectively and remains an important part of Australia's radiocommunications framework. The regulator therefore intends to replace the existing instrument with a new Radiocommunications (Aircraft and Aeronautical Mobile Stations) Class Licence 2026.

The licence authorizes the operation of aircraft radio stations and aeronautical mobile stations used for aviation communications, including recreational aircraft and airport operational vehicles. ACMA has indicated that the proposed remake includes only minor technical and administrative updates to reflect developments in aviation and radiocommunications regulations.

Stakeholders may submit comments to ACMA until 21 July 2026.
