AKEP Launches Public Consultation on Very High Capacity Networks Guideline
Albania’s Electronic and Postal Communications Authority (AKEP) has approved the draft Guideline on Very High Capacity Networks (VHCN) for public consultation, marking a step toward strengthening the country’s broadband regulatory framework.
The guideline aims to define technical and performance criteria for networks classified as very high capacity, in line with national legislation and European Union electronic communications standards.
According to AKEP, the framework is based on relevant provisions of the Electronic Communications Law and aligned with BEREC recommendations on VHCNs. It sets out parameters related to network performance, including bandwidth, latency, resilience, and service quality.
The consultation process will allow industry stakeholders to provide feedback before the guideline is finalized, supporting transparency and regulatory consistency in the sector.
AKEP stated that the initiative is part of broader efforts to promote investment in advanced network infrastructure and improve high-speed connectivity across Albania.
