The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) of the Philippines has issued Memorandum Circular No. 004-06-2026, introducing updated operating parameters for Short-Range Devices (SRDs) used in movement detection and alert applications.

The circular revises Section 2 of Memorandum Circular No. 03-05-2007 by specifying new frequency bands and maximum transmit power limits for eligible SRDs. The updated provisions cover the 2.4 GHz, 9.2–9.975 GHz, 13.4–14 GHz, 24.05–24.25 GHz, and 77–81 GHz frequency bands, with permitted power levels ranging from 25 mW to 100 mW e.i.r.p., depending on the band.

According to the NTC, the revision is intended to support the deployment of modern wireless technologies while promoting efficient spectrum use and maintaining appropriate regulatory oversight of low-power radio devices.

The memorandum circular provides that it will take effect 15 days after its publication in a newspaper of general circulation and filing with the Office of the National Administrative Register (ONAR). As of this writing, manufacturers and suppliers of affected SRDs are encouraged to review the updated technical requirements and prepare for future compliance once the circular becomes effective.
