The National ICT Regulatory Authority (ARN) of Guinea-Bissau has published a new regulation Order No. 4/CA/ARN/2025, introducing a significant regulatory change for companies seeking approval of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) equipment to be marketed in the country.
As per this new regulation, all national and foreign entities applying for equipment approval certificates from ARN must appoint a qualified local representative residing in Guinea-Bissau.
Local Representation: A local representation is required, either an individual or legal entity based in Guinea-Bissau with a registered office and valid NIF.
Formal Designation: The designation should be validated either by power of attorney or by an authenticated statement.Â
Responsibilities:
Act as ARN contact.
Respond to info/testing requests.
Ensure compliance & after-sales support.
Keep records updated with ARN.
Â
Deadlines: Ongoing approvals must be regularized within 60 days or risk application archiving.
Entry into Force: Effective from August 4, 2025.
This new requirement marks an important shift in Guinea-Bissau’s type approval landscape, reinforcing local accountability and technical oversight for ICT equipment placed on the market.
