Brazil ANATEL Updates Transition Rules for Product Certification Requirements
Brazil's National Telecommunications Agency (ANATEL) has issued Act No. 4746, amending the transitional provisions of Act No. 14,158 for telecommunications product certification.
The amendment postpones the implementation of Item III of Article 11 until 6 October 2026. Item III repeals Item 10.3.4.4 of Act No. 14,448/2017, which provides an alternative method for evaluating the maximum peak output power limit of a transmitter.
Under the updated transitional rules, products approved before the revised requirements become mandatory may continue to comply with the certification requirements under which they were originally approved. Manufacturers will not be required to demonstrate compliance with the updated technical requirements during certification maintenance.
As a result, the new bandwidth testing and revised spurious emission requirements introduced by Act No. 14,158 will primarily apply to newly certified products, while existing certifications may continue under the previous requirements.
