Bahrain TRA Launches Consultation on Updated Fixed Link and FWA Regulations
Bahrain’s TRA has launched a public consultation on updates to its Position Paper on Fixed Point-to-Point and Point-to-Multipoint Systems.
The proposal aligns the framework with the 2024 National Frequency Plan and WRC-23 outcomes, supporting 5G, FWA, and emerging IMT technologies.
Among the key proposed changes, the TRA plans to:
Prohibit new assignments in the 6.425–7.125 GHz and 39.5–40.5 GHz frequency bands, while allowing renewal of existing links only.
Update renewal procedures for Point-to-Multipoint (P-MP) systems, requiring new applications and the payment of application fees.
Revise technical annexes, including radio-frequency channel arrangements and minimum path lengths, to reflect updated ITU and ETSI standards.
Add a new annex identifying IMT bands within the Fixed Service allocation (6.425–7.125 GHz, 24.25–27.5 GHz, 37–43.5 GHz).
Expand performance parameters, introducing provisions for high-density fixed service bands and licence-exempt operation for low-power systems in the 57–66 GHz range.
The Bahrain TRA invites comments on the proposed updates by 30 November 2025, via email. The revisions aim to improve spectrum efficiency and support next-generation broadband and wireless services across Bahrain. For more details on Bahrain TRA regulatory updates, feel free to contact us at info@nanotechsol.com.
