The National Information and Communications Technology Authority (NICTA) has granted an operator licence to Starlink, enabling the company to provide satellite broadband services in Papua New Guinea.

According to NICTA, the approval is intended to support improved connectivity, particularly in rural and underserved areas, while increasing consumer choice and broadband availability across the country.

The licence was issued following a regulatory assessment of Starlink’s technical, financial, and consumer protection commitments and includes requirements related to compliance, security, and consumer safeguards.
