The Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia (CRAN) has announced a high-level stakeholder engagement to discuss the implementation and operationalisation of Namibia's new Digital Trust Regulations and Advanced Electronic Signature framework under the Electronic Transactions Act, 2019.

The engagement follows the entry into force of the Regulations regarding Accreditation of Security Products and Services and Providers of such Products and Services, as well as the Regulations relating to Advanced Electronic Signatures, which took effect on 15 June 2026.

The regulations establish a framework for the certification and accreditation of security products, services, and providers, while also enabling the recognition and use of advanced electronic signatures to support secure, reliable, and legally recognised electronic transactions in Namibia.

The stakeholder engagement will focus on implementation progress, the certification of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security, the development of Namibia’s digital trust ecosystem, electronic identity interoperability, and e-signature adoption.
