ICASA Unleashes 6 GHz Band for Wi-Fi: South Africa Surges Towards Faster Internet

South Africa's communications regulator, the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA), has opened the lower 6 GHz frequency band for Wi-Fi services.  This change allows devices to use the 5,925 MHz to 6,425 MHz range for Wi-Fi, leading to faster internet speeds and more reliable connections.

ICASA made this decision to support the growing demand for better internet access across the country. The additional spectrum is expected to reduce network congestion, especially in crowded areas. While users don't need a special license to use devices operating in this band, all equipment must get meet ICASA's type-approval to ensure safety and compliance.

This move is part of ICASA's efforts to improve internet services in South Africa, aiming to provide better connectivity for both individuals and businesses.

This decision has increased the demand for Wi-Fi 6 devices in South Africa. For personalized assistance or further inquiries regarding the Type Approval process in South Africa, feel free to contact our experts at info@nanotechsol.com
