Togo Updates National Radio Spectrum Allocation Rules
Togo has approved a new National Frequency Allocation Plan (PNAF) to modernize spectrum management and support emerging technologies, including 5G. The decree, adopted during a Cabinet meeting chaired by President Faure Gnassingbé, updates the 2022 framework and aligns the country with ITU Radio Regulations.
The National Frequency Allocation Plan (PNAF), overseen by the telecom regulator ARCEP, assigns spectrum for mobile, fixed, broadcasting, and satellite services, introduces bands for high-altitude platforms (HAPS) and aeronautical mobile services, establishes a maritime safety communications system, and regulates inter-satellite communications. Key spectrum bands include 700 MHz and 2.1 GHz, with assigned uses and responsible authorities clearly defined.
As an early 5G adopter in West Africa, Togo continues to focus deployment in major cities, while 4G remains the main driver of mobile internet access for the wider population..For consultancy and expert guidance, reach out to info@nanotechsol.com
