Mozambique Opens Consultation on Low Power Equipment Regulation
The National Communications Institute of Mozambique (INCM) has released a draft regulation on the use of low power and short-range telecommunication devices for public consultation.
The proposal outlines technical and legal requirements to prevent harmful interference, ensure device compliance, and align with international standards from the ITU and ETSI. Key measures include mandatory type approval, strict power limits, and enforcement provisions such as inspection and seizure of non-compliant equipment.
While personal use remains license-exempt, commercial applications may be subject to oversight and fees, in line with regional and global practices. Existing devices must be brought into compliance within 90 days of the regulation’s entry into force.
Stakeholders and the public are invited to submit comments by 10 October 2025, either by email or in person at INCM’s headquarters in Maputo.
