Burundi’s ARCT Requires Foreign Applicants to Appoint Local Representative for Approval Certificates

The Telecommunications Regulation and Supervision Agency (ARCT) of Burundi has announced a new requirement for applicants residing abroad who seek approval certificates for telecommunications equipment.


According to the official notice (Ref: ARCT/4258), all foreign applicants must now designate a local contact person ,either an individual or a legal entity  residing within Burundi. This step is intended to improve efficiency, ensure proper administrative follow-up, and streamline communication between ARCT and applicants.


The designated representative will be responsible for:

  • Submitting and receiving official correspondence related to the application.

  • Transmitting any additional documents requested by ARCT.

  • Overseeing the process of submitting samples for approval.

  • Managing payment of related approval fees.

  • Acting as the communication channel between ARCT and the foreign applicant.


Applicants are required to provide the following details of their designated representative when submitting applications:

  • Full name

  • Complete physical address

  • Telephone number and email address

  • Copy of a valid ID
