Somalia National Communication Authority (NCA) Introduces Type Approval Guidelines

We are pleased to announce that the Somalia National Communication Authority (NCA) has recently issued comprehensive Type Approval Guidelines for Radio and Telecommunications Terminal Equipment (RTTE), effective as of September 2018.

These guidelines encompass a wide array of Radio and Telecommunications Terminal Equipment (RTTE), including but not limited to:

Terminal equipment such as mobile handsets, tablets, PDAs, telephone sets, IP phones, and mobile dongles.

Short Range Radio Devices including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC readers, and RFID devices.

Radio Transceivers encompassing broadcast equipment, satellite equipment, and base stations.

Network Equipment such as BSCs, MSCs, PSTN switches, media gateways, servers, switches, routers, modems, PBX systems, and tracking devices.

It should be noted that the NCA will only consider applications for RTTEs that have already received a Type Approval Certificate from a National Regulatory Authority (NRA) recognized by the NCA. This certificate serves as evidence of compliance with the requisite technical standards.

We would like to highlight the list of recognized National Regulatory Authorities (NRAs) acknowledged by the NCA. Type Approval Certificates issued by these NRAs are accepted as Certificates of Compliance:

All NRAs from EU Member States

Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (TRA), UAE

Communications Authority (CA), Kenya

Information and Communications Technology Authority, Turkey

Please be advised that the NCA will periodically update the list of recognized NRAs.

For further inquiries or assistance regarding Type Approval Guidelines, feel free to contact us. We look forward to facilitating compliance and ensuring the smooth operation of telecommunications equipment within Somalia.
