Bhutan (BICMA) Advances Mobile Broadband Services with 26GHz Band Allocation for 5G Deployment

On February 20, 2024, BICMA unveiled the 26GHz Band Plan, allocating the n258 band within the frequency range of 24.3 – 27.5 GHz to IMT Services in Bhutan.

Quality of Service (QoS) degradation has been a challenge for telecom operators, especially given the limited land space. To address this, the deployment of the mid 3.5GHz (n78) spectrum for 5G Non-Standalone (NSA) services reflects ongoing efforts. Furthermore, there are plans for further spectrum expansion to strengthen 5G services in the country.
